The research group for Parallel Computing at the Institute of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Informatics of the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) is offering a
3-year PhD candidate position

to work in a funded research project (FWF) on
„Offline and Online Autotuning of Parallel Applications“
This project deals with autotuning strategies in the context of MPI (the Message-Passing Interface) and other interfaces in High Performance Computing. The research project will be led by Assoc Prof Sascha Hunold. You can contact him if you have any question.
Requirements
· A good Master's degree in computer science or other related area
· Solid knowledge of parallel computing, preferably parallel algorithms, shared-memory multi-processor programming (OpenMP), HPC (MPI)
· Good theoretical grounding in Computer Science (algorithms and data structures, complexity, ...)
· Good programming skills in C/C++, Python, and R
· Experience with Linux
· Enthusiasm for Parallel Computing and Computer Science in general
· German is not required, but fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must.
We offer
· Approximate gross salary: about 31,000 EUR/year
· Type of contract: Temporary
· Hours per week: 30
· Trial period: 12 months
